The project operates on an existing domestic layout through a strategy of subtraction and spatial redefinition, where surface continuity and curvature become both compositional and organizational tools.
The first gesture is the demolition of the convex partition wall that previously separated the entrance from the kitchen. Its removal allows the kitchen to open fully onto the entry space, transforming it into a continuous and permeable device. The built-in furniture develops along the perimeter with a fluid, seamless design, while a suspended ceiling echoes its geometry and integrates lighting, enhancing the depth of the equipped wall.
In the living area, the project introduces a second key intervention: the lowering of the suspended ceiling. This is not merely a technical adjustment, but a spatial threshold that protects and “screens” the bedroom door system, avoiding visual interference and granting greater autonomy to the sleeping area. The ceiling drop thus acts as a mediating element between different domains, calibrating heights and establishing an internal hierarchy.
Within this volume, the living room is organized into two distinct yet continuous zones: a more open dining area, directly connected to the kitchen, and a more intimate lounge area. The separation is not defined by rigid partitions, but by variations in height, curvature, and integrated elements that suggest different uses and modes of inhabitation.
The central feature of the project is the sofa emerging from the wall, generated by an inverted arch that simultaneously carves and constructs space. This sculptural gesture gives rise to a hybrid device: seating, storage, and spatial divider. The curved volume not only defines the living area but also introduces a layer of intimacy, shielding the sofa from the rest of the house without interrupting visual continuity. The result is a fluid yet articulated domestic space, where each element contributes to a sequence of environments that become progressively more intimate.
